How it works
Each councillor is allocated a specific radio frequency handset. The motion is displayed on a screen viewable by all attendees. This motion can be amended by the facilitator and voting takes place on the amendment and any motion or amended motion.

During the voting the screen displays the councillor's name, political party and their individual 'Yes', 'No' or 'Abstain' vote. These votes are electronically counted and the results clearly displayed to all. If a casting vote is required it too is registered by handset.

All the gathered information is stored automatically as an electronic record for post session reporting.

Because of its wireless operation the Optivote Council Chamber System can be readily deployed in a Council Chamber within a listed building without great expense or the need for special permissions or planning consents.

Optivote would like to thank T&WC for their input in the development of this dynamic new system which has been built to T&WC's specifications as a progressive step in their drive for eGovernment.
